Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Product Design Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of our next generation enterprise intercom products, from concept through mass production.

You will generate mechanical solutions for enterprise hardware, collaborate with EE and ID teams, manage tooling, and drive high-quality, scalable production across global vendors. International travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• A track record of designing and manufacturing enterprise or consumer electronic products.
• Mastery of 3D CAD software.
• Hands-on with building and testing hardware.
• Experience with overseas supply chain.
• Experience working with vendors on DFM, tooling bring up and validation.
• Passion for designing aesthetically pleasing but user-friendly hardware.
• End-to-end product development experience.
• 5 years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing and electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Generate mechanical solutions for enterprise hardware including audio, cameras, buttons, mounting, sealing and environmental resistance.
• Drive new products from proof of concept to mass production.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineering to integrate PCBAs, sensors and interconnects.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design to prototype, test and finalize CMF.
• Work with vendors to dial in DFM/DFA and quote parts for prototype and production quantities.
• Own tooling release, bring up and validation for parts and processes.
• Develop and execute mechanical reliability test plans and DoEs.
• Assist with failure analysis and root cause analysis; iterate quickly.
• Coordinate with JDM and CM partners through EVT, DVT, PVT to mass production.
