Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for a 6-month remote contract to design, develop, simulate, and document semiconductor test hardware, including contactors, sockets, and interfaces.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mechanical design, extensive SolidWorks experience, GD&T mastery, and familiarity with ANSYS or DriveWorks, with proven ability to lead design through production release in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Advanced experience with SolidWorks PDM.
• Strong mechanical design and product development background.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and precision mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of FEA and engineering simulation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design semiconductor test contactors, alignment frames, sockets, and plug-and-play interface solutions.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
• Develop designs that meet customer requirements, manufacturability objectives, and reliability targets.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities from concept through production release.
• Perform tolerance analyses and mechanical stack-up studies for precision assemblies.
• Develop innovative solutions for complex semiconductor test applications.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design and assembly issues.
• Support prototype builds, engineering evaluations, and qualification testing.
• Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve quality, cost, and lead times.
