Job summary

LeoForce in San Jose, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead hands-on design in commercial HVAC projects. You will own design through to permit issuance, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring optimized, code-compliant installations.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in commercial construction, a strong HVAC background, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. PE license is preferred; position offers comprehensive benefits and a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Required).
• PE license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and installation standards.
• Familiarity with California codes.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design process from design to permit and documentation.
• Define design parameters, select systems, size equipment and control strategies.
• Design and address air-side and water-side mechanical systems.
• QA/QC throughout the design, ensuring standards and constructability.
• Provide field support during construction (RFIs, submittals, site assessments).
• Mentor junior engineers and improve documentation quality.
