American Hofmann Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior level Mechanical Design Engineer to help lead our team in Lynchburg, Virginia. This role focuses on designing custom industrial balancing systems and automated machinery used by manufacturers worldwide.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead project teams, and collaborate with manufacturing, sales, testing, and service to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial machinery, automation equipment, or custom machine design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of custom industrial balancing systems and automated machinery.
• Design systems incorporating pneumatics, hydraulics, actuators, tooling, fixturing, drilling stations, milling stations, and other automation technologies.
• Perform engineering calculations including precision ISO fits, tolerance stack-up analysis, component sizing, and fixture design.
• Lead the mechanical engineering effort on assigned projects by coordinating work assignments and providing technical direction to engineering team members.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, sales, testing, service, and production teams to deliver high-quality customer solutions.
• Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance and professional development.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, design standards, and product performance.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts and project status across multiple departments.

American Hofmann Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior level Mechanical Design Engineer to join help lead our team in Lynchburg, Virginia. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving challenging machine design problems, leading technical efforts on complex projects, and mentoring junior engineers. You will play a key role in the design and development of custom industrial balancing systems and automated machinery used by manufacturers around the world.

• Strong knowledge of machine design principles, GD&T, ISO fits, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, actuators, tooling, and fixturing.
• Proficiency with Siemens Solid Edge or comparable 3D CAD software.
• Experience with Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and mentor other engineers.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) is a plus.

Pay range and compensation package

• Competitive salary: $95,000 - $115,000, based on experience and qualifications.

Location Requirement
