Job description

We are working with a $100M American manufacturer with an opening for a Senior Automation Design Engineer. This position will design and build machinery and systems for their four manufacturing facilities in Cincinnati, OH; Wooster, OH; Ft. Wayne, IN; and Columbia City, IN.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, specify, procure and build machinery and equipment for manufacturing.
• Create 3D CAD models, detail and assembly drawings, design layouts, BOMs, and tolerance application.
• Collaborate with machined, lasered, and purchased parts suppliers.
• Work closely with the manufacturing team to generate innovative and cost‑effective, data‑driven projects focused on process and equipment improvements.
• Travel: 60–80%; most travel will be between Wooster, Cincinnati, and Fort Wayne.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in machine design.
• Experience with modern manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and how data integration can optimize their effectiveness.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (Sponsorship is not provided for this role).
