HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a qualified engineer to provide technical support for diverse design tasks and to produce engineering documentation. The role involves gathering and formatting data, performing calculations, and developing reports to support design decisions.

The incumbent will lead mechanical combat system test procedures, coordinating with trades, management, and government support groups, and ensuring rigorous documentation for naval platforms.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
• NNS Apprentice School graduate (preferred).
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate (preferred).
• High School/GED with 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience (alternate).
• High School/GED with 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience (alternate).

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks and produces engineering documentation.
• Leads and maintains mechanical combat system test procedures, including torpedo tubes and related systems, interfacing with stakeholders.
