Job summary

Technology Service Corp. in Washington, DC seeks a Mechanical Designer with 7-10+ years of experience to design, prototype, test, and sustain advanced mechanical systems for communications equipment.

You will create 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, generate drawings, coordinate with manufacturing, and support environmental and vibration testing to ensure robust performance across platforms.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of proven experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD/CAM software and creating technical drawings, specifications, documentation and design analyses.
• Hands‑on fabrication, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of materials, machining processes, tolerance stack-ups and manufacturing methods (additive manufacturing/3D printing, CNC, injection molding).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design robust mechanical and electromechanical systems, assemblies and components.
• Analyze requirements and translate into mechanical design specifications.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform DFMs and design analyses; support testing and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, technicians, engineers and suppliers for hardware implementation.
• Provide support during environmental, vibration, thermal testing and sustainment activities.
