Job summary

Technology Service Corporation seeks aMechanical Design Engineer to support customer initiatives inWashington, DC. The role involves end-to-end design, prototyping and sustainment of advanced mechanical systems for communications hardware, with on-site work at various customer locations.

The ideal candidate has 5-7 years in mechanical design, hands-on fabrication and strong proficiency in SolidWorks, plus eligibility for a DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 5-7 years of proven mechanical design and product development experience.
• Proficiency with full-lifecycle engineering (concept to sustainment).
• Experience creating technical drawings, specifications, and design analyses.
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of materials, machining processes, tolerances and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with hand/power tools and precision measurement equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work with customers and peers.
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team; proactive problem-solving.
• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust mechanical and electromechanical systems, assemblies and components.
• Translate system requirements into detailed mechanical design specifications.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform tolerance analysis, material selection and DFM assessments.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for all design stages.
