Job summary

Via Separations in the Boston area is seeking a Mechanical Build & Maintenance Lead to join our Internal Systems group in Watertown, MA. This hands-on technical leadership role focuses on assembling, fabricating, and maintaining test skids, with responsibility for reading engineering drawings and coordinating material orders.

You will lead builds and safety, mentor teammates, and collaborate with engineers, electricians, and field crews while working around hazardous liquids and gases.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience assembling, fabricating, and maintaining mechanical and piping systems.
• Ability to read and work directly from engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
• Experience using hand tools and shop equipment, including cut-off saws and pipe threading machines.
• Comfortable around hazardous liquids and gases; strong safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead build sequencing and task assignment for assigned projects.
• Assemble and fabricate internal test equipment and skids with pumps, piping, valves, instrumentation, and controls.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specs to plan builds.
• Order and track material and coordinate with engineering and procurement.
• Maintain and troubleshoot test skids and lab equipment; implement corrective actions.
• Mentor teammates and enforce shop safety and quality standards.
