Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is seeking a Materials Testing Technician Senior to perform comprehensive QA testing on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete. The role focuses on lab work with field support, ensuring compliance with standards while supporting the laboratory supervisor.

The position involves training Lab Technicians, coordinating daily activities, and advancing nondestructive evaluation technologies in a busy transportation lab environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of progressively responsible experience in construction materials testing or related engineering technician duties.
• Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework in Construction Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Must possess ATTI Soil & Aggregate, ATTI Asphalt, and ACI Strength certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of construction materials for projects.
• Conduct field sampling and testing to verify material adequacy.
• Prepare, review, and submit testing reports and summaries for accuracy.
• Assist in training, mentoring, and guiding Laboratory Technicians.
• Coordinate and assign daily work activities to support laboratory operations.
