Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Engineering Technician to assist engineers and technicians in materials testing across soil, asphalt, aggregate, concrete, and field operations.

The technician will operate and maintain lab equipment, enter testing data in MATT or SM Materials, coordinate with Project and Area Engineer offices, and assist with drill rigs and roadway cores.

Qualifications

• possess a high school diploma or GED; OR
• six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in daily materials testing across lab sections (soil, asphalt, aggregate, concrete, and field operations).
• Enter testing reports into MATT or SM Materials and retrieve information as requested.
• May perform field work on drill rigs and collect roadway cores; coordinate with Area/Project Engineers on tasks.
• Coordinate with Project Engineer's office to verify project finals and sampling plans; support Federal Independent Assurance requirements.
• Attend required training and provide training/assistance to junior staff; support emergency/disaster operations as needed.
