Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Materials Engineer to identify requirements for materials and processes used across prototype, qualification, and flight assemblies. You’ll implement testing and controls to ensure end‑item compliance, working with designers, manufacturing, and customers to drive commonality.

This role focuses on selecting materials for space hardware, evaluating suppliers, and coordinating with design and manufacturing teams to meet program milestones.

Qualifications

• Familiar with electronic materials and processes used in printed wiring boards and/or circuit card assemblies.
• Knowledge of IPC standards.
• Experience writing material specifications and test plans.
• Familiar with reading, writing, and reviewing engineering drawings.
• Willingness/ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Select materials and processes on new designs that will help defend our country and provide hands‑on manufacturing experience.
• Perform materials and processes technical engineering assignments.
• Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions.
• Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials and processes.
• Prepare technical and progress reports, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports.
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as design engineering, manufacturing, quality engineering, and procurement.
