Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Materials Engineer to analyze, research, design, and develop materials and related fabrication processes for use in structures, systems and subsystems. The role applies chemistry, physics and material behavior to craft metallic, non-metallic and composite materials and processing specifications.

Responsibilities include developing material properties and design allowables, processing procedures, and quality specifications; performing analyses such as failure analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Materials or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with process improvement and selecting materials.
• Experience developing and qualifying manufacturing processes to include close collaboration with ancillary teams (e.g., machine shop, finishing, quality assurance)

Responsibilities

• Analyze, research, design and develop materials and related fabrication and application processes.
• Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop material specifications, fabrication and processing procedures.
• May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
