Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to develop and qualify materials and processes for engine applications. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and process engineers to implement specialized materials throughout development and production.

Lead material selection, create test plans, and ensure quality through process control documentation. Identify cost and lead-time reductions while improving manufacturability and reliability of advanced engine hardware.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 9+ years of direct experience in materials and processes
  • Experience providing M&P guidance across product lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of metallic materials including steels, stainless steels, Ci-based alloys and copper
  • Experience with non-metallics such as epoxies, potting materials, and adhesives
  • Experience with joining and joint design for adhesive bonding, welding, brazing, and fastening
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline is desired
  • Familiarity with additive, casting, and forging manufacturing processes and their impact on material properties is desired
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, and overhaul on complex hardware or systems is desired
  • Experience setting up and qualifying new manufacturing equipment and/or processes is desired
  • Understanding of and ability to work to relevant quality and design codes and standards is desired
  • Standard background check required
