Job summary

Avis Budget Group is hiring an experienced automotive technician to service a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks. You will diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust, brakes, electrical, HVAC, and onboard computer systems with minimal supervision.

Role requires on-site presence, valid licenses, and a minimum of 3 years repair experience; ASE certifications preferred and OEM experience a plus. Benefits include training, PTO, and insurance options.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C).
• Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience.
• Current ASE certifications (minimum of 3), with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year.
• ASE knowledge across Engine, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, HVAC, Engine Performance.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and near a mechanical shop with moderate noise levels.
• Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive and truck repair and maintenance.
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance.
• This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.
• Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• You will perform standard and complex mechanical repairs, including warranty work, on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision.
• This includes diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning, and onboard computer systems.
• You may act as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians, supporting diagnostics, repair strategies, and best practices.
• You may also be required to drive Budget Trucks on public roads for testing, repair verification, or transport needs.
• By keeping vehicles operating safely and efficiently, your work directly reduces downtime, supports fleet availability, and ensures a reliable customer experience.
