Job summary

Bowie State University is seeking an Electrical Trades Chief to supervise maintenance staff, manage budgeting for trade areas, and enforce SOPs to enhance safety and service delivery.

Responsibilities include prioritizing PM tasks, coordinating procurement, and preparing reports. Candidates should hold a Maryland Master Electrician license and have extensive lead experience in electrical maintenance, with compliance to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Maryland State Master Electrician License.
• License required for supervisory-level electrical operations oversight.
• Asbestos awareness or related training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains, and develops assigned personnel; directs on-the-job training and performance management.
• Assists in budget development, forecasting, and planning for trade areas.
• Develops and enforces SOPs to improve safety, efficiency, and service delivery.
• Prioritizes work orders and PM tasks; assigns staff and escalates where needed.
• Ensures availability of tools, materials, and equipment; coordinates procurement for continuity.
• Prepares estimates for labor and materials; works with outside contractors as needed.
• Generates operational reports, maintenance logs, and workload metrics.
• Inspects work areas for safety compliance and quality against codes and standards.
• Diagnoses and resolves maintenance issues; directs repairs and troubleshooting as required.
