Modern Intelligence is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager in Austin to build and run the go-to-market engine for Sovereign. Lead multi-channel campaigns, with strong emphasis on video and social, while hiring and managing agencies to raise the bar across print, booths, and events.
You’ll translate complex defense tech into customer-ready messaging, produce much of the content yourself initially using AI tools, and scale the function with a small vendor roster as the team grows.
Location: Austin, Texas
Compensation: $125,000 - 175,000 USD / year
Modern Intelligence builds Sovereign, targeting software for unmanned systems. Manufacturers install it on UAVs, USVs, UUVs, and other unmanned vehicles. Sovereign runs on the vehicle's computer. It detects, classifies, and tracks targets from the onboard cameras, keeps identity when the picture breaks up, and can run terminal guidance into impact. It keeps working when GPS is out and the radio is jammed.
We've held Department of War contracts, including work with Air Force Special Operations and SOCOM.
We've raised more than $12 million from Bedrock, Vine, Contrary, Air Street, Caffeinated, Champion Hill, Swell, Myelin, and others.
We're hiring a Senior Marketing Manager to own how Modern Intelligence shows up across all mediums: video, social, print, booths and events, and overall design. You don't need to be the specialist in every lane, but you should be strong at video and social yourself, and able to raise the bar everywhere else by hiring and managing the right vendors.
We're a heavy computer vision company, so our expectation is to show things visually. Day to day you'll run the marketing engine. At first we expect you to produce a large share of the work yourself, using AI tools to move faster on research, drafts, edits, and creative options, and to bring in agencies or freelancers when a specialist is the better call. As you show you can set the narrative, the creative standard, and the vendor stack, you'll take on broader ownership.
We expect this role to turn a clear product story into visible work across:
We are a small team and we move fast. You will do much of the work yourself, build and run a small vendor roster (agencies, freelancers, production) on a startup budget, hold partners to deadlines, and fix work that is late or off-brand. You must feel comfortable working with founders and technical leaders as the primary story owners.
You will be our first marketing hire with the eventual goal building and owning an entire internal team.
$125,000 - $175,000 semi monthly Compensation Specifics Final offer depends on demonstrated depth in a systems language and how much of the stack you can pick up quickly. Equity is granted on top of base for every full‑time role.
