Job summary

Modern Intelligence seeks a Senior Marketing Manager in Austin to own how we present our edge targeting software for unmanned systems across video, social, print, booths, and design.

You’ll lead the marketing engine, initially doing much of the work yourself with AI tools, then expanding by hiring vendors and building a team as you set the narrative and standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in marketing, brand, demand gen, or GTM at a B2B, hardware, defense, or deep-tech company (agency experience on the client side of briefs also counts)
  • Proven experience briefing and managing external creatives: agencies, freelancers, or production partners for video, design, or events
  • Strong written voice: turn technical product language into clear customer-facing copy
  • Hands‑on with video and social yourself (edit or produce short‑form, post and iterate), plus comfort across web/landing pages, event/booth collateral, and basic campaign ops (calendar, assets, deadlines)
  • Heavy day‑to‑day use of AI tools for research, drafting, editing, creative iteration, and production speed, with judgment on when to ship vs. when a human pass is required
  • Portfolio or work samples that show shipped campaigns or assets, not only strategy docs
  • Travel
  • If you're located in Austin, the job is full-time in the office in Austin
  • You must have the ability to travel for events, demos, and customer or partner moments as needed
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)). This role may work with export‑controlled technology and controlled messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Own how Modern Intelligence shows up across all mediums: video, social, print, booths and events, and overall design
  • Produce a large share of the work yourself at first, using AI tools to move faster on research, drafts, edits, and options, and bring in agencies or freelancers when needed
  • Set the narrative, the creative standard, and the vendor stack, then take on broader ownership
  • Turn a clear product story into visible work across demos, explainers, long form video, social content, and partner content
  • Build and run a small vendor roster (agencies, freelancers, production) on a startup budget and hold partners to deadlines
  • Work with founders and technical leaders as the primary story owners
  • Collaborate on trade-show booths from brief through on-site

Job description

Modern Intelligence builds Sovereign, targeting software for unmanned systems. Manufacturers install it on UAVs, USVs, UUVs, and other unmanned vehicles. Sovereign runs on the vehicle’s computer. It detects, classifies, and tracks targets from the onboard cameras, keeps identity when the picture breaks up, and can run terminal guidance into impact. It keeps working when GPS is out and the radio is jammed.

We’ve held Department of War contracts, including work with Air Force Special Operations and SOCOM.

We’ve raised more than $12 million from Bedrock, Vine, Contrary, Air Street, Caffeinated, Champion Hill, Swell, Myelin, and others.

Details

We’re hiring a Senior Marketing Manager to own how Modern Intelligence shows up across all mediums: video, social, print, booths and events, and overall design. You don’t need to be the specialist in every lane, but you should be strong at video and social yourself, and able to raise the bar everywhere else by hiring and managing the right vendors.

We’re a heavy computer vision company, so our expectation is to show things visually. Day to day you’ll run the marketing engine. At first we expect you to produce a large share of the work yourself, using AI tools to move faster on research, drafts, edits, and creative options, and to bring in agencies or freelancers when a specialist is the better call. As you show you can set the narrative, the creative standard, and the vendor stack, you’ll take on broader ownership.

We expect this role to turn a clear product story into visible work across:

  • demos made for short form video
  • explainers and long form video
  • social and LinkedIn/X that are sharp, relevant, and engaging
  • sourcing and creating content with partners
  • print and design that look like a serious defense company
  • trade-show booths from brief through on-site

We are a small team and we move fast. You will do much of the work yourself, build and run a small vendor roster (agencies, freelancers, production) on a startup budget, hold partners to deadlines, and fix work that is late or off‑brand. You must feel comfortable working with founders and technical leaders as the primary story owners.

You will be our first marketing hire with the eventual goal building and owning an entire internal team.

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience marketing autonomy, robotics, aerospace, and defense technology
  • Direct ownership of trade‑show booths and materials
  • Direct ownership of field‑demo presence
  • Experience building or running a small vendor roster (video, design, print, social)
  • Comfort working with founders or technical leaders as the primary story owners
  • Familiarity with marketing on LinkedIn, X, and in defense/industry events
  • Product and design taste
Nice to have
  • Prior in‑house marketing roles with leadership or stretch‑leadership experience
  • Experience with CRMs or light marketing ops tools (Resend, Clay, Attio, or similar)
  • Existing relationships with creative or production partners you would bring into the fold

$125,000 - $175,000 semi monthly

Compensation Specifics
  • Final offer depends on demonstrated depth in a systems language and how much of the stack you can pick up quickly.
  • Equity is granted on top of base for every full‑time role.
Benefits
  • Full Medical for employee and family
  • Full dental and vision for employee and partial coverage for your dependents.
  • Flexible PTO
  • Paid Holidays: All federal holidays + last two weeks of the calendar year
  • Paid Parental Leave: 3 Months
