Job summary

R4X Consulting in Galveston, TX seeks an experienced Marine Manager - Fabrication Architect to lead fabrication, modification, repair, and improvement of commercial vessels and equipment. The role combines engineering know-how with hands-on leadership on the shop floor and in the field, coordinating drawings, planning, procurement, and vessel upgrades.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in marine fabrication, shipbuilding, ship repair or related field.
• Strong AutoCAD 2D skills; 3D experience a plus.
• Experience reading and developing fabrication, structural, mechanical, or vessel drawings.
• Ability to develop material take-offs and Bills of Materials.

Responsibilities

• Manage marine fabrication and modification projects from planning through completion.
• Provide technical direction to fabrication teams and troubleshoot shop and field issues.
• Develop and review AutoCAD drawings for structural modifications and vessel layouts.
• Coordinate with shop personnel, project management, vessel operations, procurement, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Review field measurements, materials, and fabrication requirements before work begins.
• Track schedules, materials, costs, procurement needs, and progress.
• Support vessel repairs, upgrades, dry-dock projects, and field modifications.
• Review completed work for conformance with drawings and specifications.
• Support regulatory approval processes involving ABS and the U.S. Coast Guard.
