Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation in Arlington, VA, supporting design of ships and ship systems for Navy programs and commercial customers.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality electrical designs on schedule. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical or Marine Engineering, 10+ years of marine electrical design experience, and the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of marine electrical system design experience.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/HV power, switchboards, transformers, UPS, and propulsion electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ABS, Lloyd’s Register and related marine standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept through construction, including power generation and distribution (LV/HV), switchboards, transformers, UPS, propulsion and control systems.
  • Produce and review electrical design documentation, schematics, load analyses, and equipment specifications.
  • Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with marine and offshore standards and class rules.
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and sea trials.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, naval architecture, and software teams.
  • Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors and classification societies.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
