Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation in Arlington, VA. You will lead the design of marine electrical systems, drive documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs on schedule.

You will mentor junior engineers, engage with clients and shipyards, and ensure compliance with industry standards while supporting FAT, SAT, and sea trials. 10% travel required.

Qualifications

  • Requires DoD Secret security clearance eligibility.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or marine engineering.
  • 10+ years designing marine electrical systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLC programming.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept through construction.
  • Produce and review electrical design documentation (SLDs, schematics, load analyses).
  • Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with marine/offshore standards (IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS).
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other teams.
  • Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Travel 10% for shipchecks and reviews.
