Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation in support of naval ships and systems. You will lead electrical designs, develop diagrams and specs, and work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.

The role requires a DoD Secret clearance, a civil engineering/related degree, and extensive experience in marine electrical systems; travel and liaison with customers are expected.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, marine engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in marine electrical system design with PE background.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical engineering design principles.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, MATLAB, Simulink, and PLC programming.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, documents, and relevant standards (46 CFR; ABS; SOLAS; IEEE; IEC).
  • Experience writing requirements and drafting SOWs; cost and schedule estimation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; independent work capability.
  • Willingness to travel ~10%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept to construction.
  • Produce and review electrical design documentation and equipment specs.
  • Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with marine standards and class rules.
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with mechanical, naval, and software teams.
  • Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Travel occasionally for shipchecks and design reviews.
  • Prioritize health, safety, and environmental considerations; comply with policies.
