Job summary

Serco Inc. in Arlington, VA, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of marine electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, automation, and propulsion-related electronics.

You will work within the Maritime Engineering Operation to deliver compliant, high-quality designs for naval and commercial customers. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in marine electrical design, DoD Secret clearance eligibility, and strong skills in MATLAB/Simulink and PLC programming.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, marine engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience designing marine electrical systems.
Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Experience with marine/offshore standards and class rules (IEC, IEEE, 46 CFR, ABS, SOLAS).
Proficient in MS Office, MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder, and PLC programming.

Responsibilities

Lead design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept to construction.
Produce and review SLDs, schematics, load analyses, and cable schedules.
Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
Ensure compliance with marine/offshore standards and class rules.
Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
Travel up to 10% of the time.
