Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation in Arlington, VA. Lead design of marine electrical systems, coordinate with cross‑functional teams, and ensure compliance with global standards. DoD Secret clearance is required and U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

You will contribute to power, automation, and control systems across naval and commercial programs, traveling as needed to shipyards and review sites while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or marine-related field.
  • 10+ years in marine electrical design and related areas.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and maintain it.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept through construction, including power generation and distribution, switchboards, transformers, UPS, and emergency power systems.
  • Produce and review electrical design documentation (SLDs, schematics, load analyses, cable schedules).
  • Provide project cost and schedule estimates and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with marine standards (IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s) and class rules.
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials; mentor junior engineers.
