Job summary

Serco Inc. (Serco) seeks a Senior Marine Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) and support Navy and commercial clients.

The role involves leading ship and system design efforts, coordinating cross-discipline inputs, and delivering engineering deliverables throughout DD&C phases. The successful candidate will have ABET-accredited marine engineering education, a decade of experience, strong communication, and the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

• A Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited university in Marine Engineering or related field such as Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
• 10 years of related and progressive experience in the Marine Engineering field.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology applied to design and production of marine craft.
• Knowledge of government or contracting environments relating to technical, scientific, and analytical services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholders.
• Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and learn new technologies.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion system design or review.
• Lead design integrations and coordinate inputs from multiple disciplines.
• Oversee concept and feasibility studies for auxiliary systems and equipment.
• Provide onsite engineering support for test sites and shipyard activities.
• Review machinery arrangements and assist in detailed layouts of machinery spaces.
• Conduct failure analysis and develop engineering solutions.
• Prepare and present formal briefings to government or commercial clients.
