Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks a Senior Marine Engineer for the Maritime Engineering Operation to support Navy programs and ship design projects.

You will lead design of auxiliary and propulsion systems and coordinate inputs across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions. Requires ABET-accredited Bachelors in Marine Engineering and 10+ years’ progressive experience, strong communication, ability to obtain a secret clearance, and up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree from ABET-accredited university in Marine Engineering or related field.
• 10 years of related progress experience in the Marine Engineering field.
• Knowledge of engineering science and production of marine craft.
• Knowledge of government or contracting environments relating to technical services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and learn new technologies.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design or review auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion systems.
• Apply regulatory standards to develop analyses and products.
• Lead development of design requirements, specs, and technical reports.
• Coordinate design integrations across naval architecture and structures.
• Lead studies for pumping, fuel, seawater, and other fluid systems.
• Lead equipment studies for refrigeration, pumps, motors, and HVAC.
• Support design from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Provide onsite engineering support at test sites and shipyards.
• Review machinery arrangements and spaces within ships.
• Conduct failure analysis and issue technical change packages.
• Assist budgeting, cost estimation, and project planning.
• Lead project review meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
