Job summary

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Manufacturing Test Engineer to develop and deploy manufacturing test equipment, software, and data systems for high-volume production of a novel energy storage system. You will collaborate with Product Development, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, MES, and Operations to define and implement scalable test solutions.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in automated test systems, ownership from concept to deployment, and experience with MES/instrumentation integration.

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining automated test systems in manufacturing or product development.
• Ownership of complete test systems from concept through deployment.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience integrating test systems with MES, databases, or enterprise software.
• Experience scaling test systems from prototype to high-volume production.
• Familiarity with industrial/integrated protocols such as CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, UART, SPI, I2C, Protobuf.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain manufacturing test software for cell, module, and pack-level testing.
• Design architectures to support scalability, maintainability, and long-term operation, including HMI and PLC automation, MES, and databases.
• Develop and deploy manufacturing test equipment for new product introductions and process development.
• Create test fixtures, hardware interfaces, and instrumentation for production and safety requirements.
• Lead equipment validation activities and production readiness reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Development, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, MES, and Operations to define test requirements.
• Define test readiness requirements and plan/execute activities for new products, process changes, and factory expansions.
• Own manufacturing test decisions in PFMEA, control plans, risk assessments, and DFM/DTT.
• Develop documentation and training for testing procedures and equipment specs.
• Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis for test equipment and software issues during development and ramp.
• Serve as a technical resource during deployments and launches to ensure test systems meet quality and performance.
