Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in South Boston, Virginia, seeks a Manufacturing Production Process Engineering Senior Professional to drive lean transformation in the Focus Factory for Distribution and Power Transformers.

You will analyze operations, develop procedures, and lead CAPEX-backed improvements with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years in transformer manufacturing, plus hands-on CAD and risk assessment experience.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent and 5 years in distribution transformers industry
• 5 years driving continuous improvement with Lean Manufacturing
• Experience writing, editing and reviewing SOPs and risk assessments
• Experience training operators based on technical documents
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo)
• Ability to create 2D layouts and 3D models for manufacturing
• Experience ensuring compliance with IEEE/ASME codes
• Ability to justify CAPEX payback periods
• Define technical specs for transformer manufacturing equipment
• Manage installation, commissioning and startup of equipment
• Prepare risk assessments/work permits and coordinate with contractors
• Collaborate with HSE on safety of contracted work

Responsibilities

• Analyze operations and develop procedures for a Focus Factory.
• Collaborate with Focus Factory Manager and ITML to drive lean transformation.
• Drive safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost improvements.
• Develop Value Stream mapping, work instructions and standard work.
• Support CAPEX projects, reviews and installations.
• Provide senior support to process engineers and technicians.
• Lead root cause analysis and rapid problem solving.
• Create 2D layouts and 3D models for manufacturing read by teams.
• Maintain compliance with electrical/engineering standards.
• Coordinate with Quality, Health & Safety, Design Engineering, and Maintenance.
