Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support Detroit Axle Carrier Assembly operations. You will lead daily troubleshooting, drive PPS projects, and collaborate across engineering, maintenance, quality, and operations to reduce downtime and improve SQDCM metrics.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, standard work adherence, and development of digital tools to accelerate issue resolution and performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• 5-7 Years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automated equipment, and shop-floor troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of BOM, PFMEA, Control Plans, standardized work, and quality systems.
• Demonstrated experience with structured problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Experience in cross-functional manufacturing environments.
• Lean/Six Sigma and project-management methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing engineering expertise for Detroit Axle carrier assembly operations with hands-on troubleshooting.
• Lead structured problem solving and Continuous Improvement to meet SQDCM objectives.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment and processes on the shop floor; implement corrective actions.
• Own downtime, quality, scrap, cycle-time, and equipment performance issues using data-driven methods.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering to improve OEE and process capability.
• Develop and utilize digitalization, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools for faster troubleshooting and decision making.
