Job summary

Saab AB is seeking a Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership in developing and implementing high-impact manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems. You will lead cross-functional initiatives from concept to production, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

The role requires driving continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven methods, coordinating with stakeholders and leading key equipment validation and process optimization

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a master’s; or a PhD with 3 years; or equivalent.
• Strong experience in manufacturing process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to lead complex engineering projects from concept through implementation and production.
• Proficiency with engineering documentation, data analysis, and standard manufacturing engineering tools.
• Strong technical communication, presentation, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to independently determine appropriate engineering methods, procedures, and evaluation criteria for complex assignments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discussions and drive alignment among stakeholders with differing priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and develop manufacturing solutions.
• Develop and improve manufacturing standards, procedures, and work instructions.
• Develop testing, validation, and evaluation methods for new or modified processes.
• Track project performance, identify risks, and coordinate actions to maintain progress.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving.
• Lead equipment selection, installation, qualification, and process validation activities.
• Develop and optimize processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Lead manufacturing engineering projects from concept through implementation and production launch.
• Translate complex technical issues into clear business impacts and decisions.
• Evaluate processes to identify opportunities for capability, efficiency, and cost improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise for manufacturing processes.
• Use data and metrics to drive fact-based decisions and continuous improvement.
• Identify and implement new technologies and best practices.
• Communicate project status and risks to leadership and stakeholders.
• Adapt communication styles to convey complex information to engineers, operators, and executives.
• Take accountability for deliverables within timelines and requirements.
