Job summary

Saab is seeking a Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer in the United States to lead cross-functional manufacturing initiatives from concept to production. You will drive safety, quality, cost, delivery, and reliability improvements while guiding complex projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities include developing standards, processes, validations, and equipment qualifications; communicating risks and impacts to leadership; and mentoring teams to meet aggressive timelines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 6 years with a Master’s; PhD with 3 years acceptable.
• Strong experience in manufacturing process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Able to lead complex engineering projects from concept through implementation and production.
• Proficiency with engineering documentation, data analysis, and standard manufacturing tools.
• Strong technical communication, presentation, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to independently select methods, procedures, and evaluation criteria for complex tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Excel and data tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discussions and drive alignment among stakeholders with differing priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify needs, resolve issues, and develop manufacturing solutions.
• Develop and improve manufacturing standards, procedures, work instructions, and practices.
• Develop testing, validation, and evaluation methods for new/modified processes.
• Track project performance, identify risks, and coordinate actions to meet objectives.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and structured problem solving.
• Lead equipment selection, installation, qualification, and process validation.
• Develop and optimize processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, capacity, cost, and OEE.
• Lead projects from concept to validation and production launch.
• Translate technical issues into clear business impacts, risks, and opportunities.
• Evaluate processes and data to identify efficiency and cost improvements.
• Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes and projects.
• Use data and metrics to drive fact-based decisions and continuous improvement.
• Identify new technologies and best practices to improve capabilities.
• Communicate status, risks, and results to leadership and stakeholders.
• Adapt communication for engineers, operators, management, and executives.
• Take accountability for deliverables within timelines and requirements.
