Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control, and optimize production and supply chain logistics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, reduce costs, and accelerate production timelines for spaceflight hardware.

The role is onsite in Texas with relocation options and up to 50% travel to Seattle during the first year; multiple shifts and potential extended

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
  • Prior internship experience in areas of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, automotive manufacturing or similar
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including knowledge of GD&T
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts; extended hours may be required

Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products (solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, structures)
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DfM), design for assembly (DfA), design for test (DfT)
  • Translate engineering requirements into repeatable manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation (work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, inspection plans)
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing)
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines/equipment
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction
