Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider to the US Department of Defense and allied nations, is seeking an experienced Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

This individual will be required to plan, design, and construct manufacturing facilities and related structures. They will determine facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources, and structural design. The role involves resolving technical problems and recommending production improvements.

Major Position Responsibilities:

  1. Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  2. Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  3. Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  4. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  5. Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  6. Confers with vendors to determine specifications of products and to arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.
  7. Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years’ experience OR an equivalent combination of relevant education & experience.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering or other engineering-related degree required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Problem-solving skills. Analytical thinking skills. Design expertise. Leadership skills.
  • Critical Professional Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
