Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to serve as the ME SME across BE-7 and Blue Thrusters, reporting to the Director of Operations. This high-visibility role will drive manufacturability, production readiness, and cost reduction across two propulsion programs.

You will lead cross-program ME leadership, DFx feedback, and automation initiatives, including AI-assisted tooling. The position demands hands-on hardware experience, process leadership, and the ability to eliminate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level engineering degree; deep hardware/materials fluency required.
  • 8+ years in manufacturing engineering in production or development-to-production.
  • 5+ years authoring work instructions and managing manufacturing BOMs.
  • Hands-on experience in propulsion or aerospace hardware manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Manufacturing Engineering SME across BE-7 and Blue Thrusters value streams, splitting time between programs.
  • Establish and enforce manufacturing best practices; mentor engineers to raise technical floor.
  • Lead DFM/DFx reviews and drive producibility improvements to reduce cost and cycle time.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness activities for BE-7 qualification and transition to production.
  • Architect production systems for medium-rate production (1,000+ units/year).
  • Lead automation strategy and implementation across both programs; deploy AI-assisted tools.
