Job summary

Sila Nanotechnologies is seeking a Staff Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering to ensure reliable operation and optimization of production equipment at our site in Moses Lake, WA. You will troubleshoot daily issues, design improvements, and work with maintenance to enhance equipment reliability.

The role emphasizes CAD-driven design, documentation, and adherence to mechanical safety and process standards within an industrial setting. On-site work with cross-functional teams is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally in chemical process industries, manufacturing or equipment engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with pumps, motors, blowers, and valves; familiarity with high-temperature environments is a plus.
• Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design, drafting, and drawing review.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical equipment in an industrial setting.
• Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Familiarity with Mechanical Integrity concepts within a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on mechanical engineering support to quickly troubleshoot and resolve daily production issues including pumps, blowers, furnaces, and material handling equipment.
• Create and revise CAD models, fabrication drawings, and mechanical fixture designs for immediate operational needs and minor upgrades.
• Support maintenance with reliability strategies, health checks, and lubrication plans for mechanical assets.
• Perform technical reviews of drawings, specifications to ensure compliance with codes and internal standards.
• Interface with external fabrication/repair services for equipment and components.
• Utilize operational data to propose condition-based monitoring procedures and prevent downtime.
• Participate in feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for equipment upgrades or reliability projects.
• Document solutions and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
