Job summary

TILT Autonomy, Inc. in Annapolis, MD, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to make the line manufacturable and repeatable for rate production.

You will own the transition of components from prototype to scalable assembly, establish acceptance criteria, and qualify shops across multiple contract manufacturers. The role requires hands-on experience in aerospace/defense hardware, strong GD&T skills, and a proven ability to write clear assembly instructions and define changes across vendors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering in aerospace, defense, complex electronics, or another precision hardware environment.
• Took a product from prototype into rate production, and can describe what broke on the way.
• Fluent in engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience writing the work instructions someone else actually built from.
• Comfortable owning a vendor relationship, not just a drawing package.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Design for manufacturing with EEs and MEs during design, drive DFM and DFA while changes are cheap.
• Make it repeatable by writing the work instructions, travelers, and assembly guides.
• Qualify and manage contract manufacturers, harness shops, and machine shops; run first-article inspection.
• Own the engineering change process as it reaches floor and vendors; define acceptance criteria and first-article requirements.
• Make the production line measurable by tracking labor hours, yield, scrap, and rework.
