Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Automation Engineer to join the Manufacturing Automation team. You will own automation projects end-to-end, design and deploy automated manufacturing systems, and partner with design, manufacturing, and IE teams to optimize production across facilities.

The role requires 12+ years in automation, strong CAD (NX/AutoCAD), and expertise in robotics, machine vision, and safety systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, CS, ME, EE, or similar.
12+ years designing and commissioning automated production equipment.
Proficient CAD modeling in NX or AutoCAD.
Proficient in robot/cobot selection and integration, including path planning, EOAT design, dresspacks, and safety.
Experience with material movement systems (conveyors, robotics, AGV/AMR).
Experience integrating PLCs, HMIs, pushbuttons, stack lights, safety scanners, etc.
Track record of owning multiple complex, large-scope automation programs end to end.
Broad depth across controls, robotics, machine vision, and safety systems.
Experience defining automation standards and mentoring engineers.
Must be a U.S. Person due to access to export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

Own automation projects from cradle to grave — concept, scoping, design, build, commissioning, and production handover.
Design, build, and commission automated manufacturing systems to improve throughput, quality, and safety.
Scope automation with product design and manufacturing teams.
Own automation cells including robot/cobot applications, material movement, electromechanical systems, and automated inspection.
Integrate control systems across cells (PLCs, HMIs, vision, robotics, safety).
Plan production line layouts with IE and Facilities teams.
Create 2D/3D CAD files for automation lines and components.
Contribute to internal processes, vendor solicitation, and safety buyoffs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and drive improvement.
Define automation roadmap and standards across factories.
Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.
