Job summary

Mid-State Industrial Maintenance is seeking a Manual Machinist to machine parts of various sizes using lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills, knee-mills, grinders, and saws. The role is based in a fast-paced industrial setting with long hours and frequent call-outs.

You will interpret blueprints, select tooling, and perform precision measurements with micrometers and calipers. Strong safety mindset and teamwork with engineers and QC are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with turning, milling, grinding, and drilling.
• Knowledge of metals and material properties.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools.
• Proficient in operating CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform turning, threading, boring and facing operations on various size lathes.
• Operate horizontal boring mill for drilling, tapping, boring and facing operations.
• Perform turning, boring, and facing operations in vertical boring mills.
• Operate miscellaneous machines including saws, grinders, shapers, and threading machines.
• Use micrometers, calipers and gauges to measure dimensions accurately.
• Follow and help improve shop safety rules.
• Routinely rig and handle parts weighing up to 40,000 lbs.
• Routinely transport parts using forklifts and cranes.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
• Select and utilize inserts, fixtures and tooling appropriately.
• Sign-out and account for tooling and consumables.
• Obtain QC approval at hold points.
• Provide feedback to estimators on quotes and budgets.
• Assist with shop improvement activities.
• Other duties as required.
