Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and run manual lathes, mills, and drills, reading blueprints and tolerances to produce one-off parts for critical equipment.

You will inspect finished work, adjust tooling, and ensure quality while supporting our turbocharger service and aftermarket teams. The role requires 5–8 years of experience, strong math skills, and a durable work ethic.

Qualifications

• Requires 5–8 years of manual machining experience, ideally in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and job cards to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Strong knowledge of precision measuring tools and inspection procedures.
• Good communication skills and basic math and computer skills.
• Able to lift at least 40 pounds and perform physical work including standing, bending, and kneeling.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and drills to machine parts to specification.
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining times.
• Repair and restore parts supporting turbocharger service business.
• Lay out and inspect finished parts and document results.
• Adjust machine offsets and feeds to achieve required tolerances.
• Apply surface finishes and perform deburring to print specs.
• Work across multiple machine types with team coordination.
