Job summary

Patterson-UTI in Conroe, TX seeks a Sr. Machinist to oversee work on a manual lathe, cutting mud motor parts. You will ensure every measurement is accurate and parts are usable after cutting, with visual inspection and QA/QC of all outputs.

The role reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor. You will train junior machinists, troubleshoot operations, perform maintenance, and help maintain a safe, organized shop environment, including lifting heavy parts and using PPE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 5 years of experience running a manual lathe.
• Must live within 1 hour driving distance of Conroe, TX.
• Ability to work on call rotation and overtime.
• Experience machining API/tapered connections.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inspection of parts produced or machined.
• Repair equipment in the machine shop.
• Provide QA/QC procedures during production.
• Troubleshoot machining operations independently.
• Perform secondary machining operations as required.
• Analyze component dimensions for efficiency.
• Assess worn parts for repair or replacement.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
• Train junior machinists and answer questions.
• Document inspections and test results.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and organization.
• Ensure equipment is clean and functional.
• Safely operate forklift to move equipment.
• Load machine with workpieces.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and GD&T.
• Perform other related duties.
