Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Manager, Trial Surveillance & Analytics to own end-to-end data solutions for safety and efficacy surveillance in ongoing clinical trials. You will work in a small, AI-native team delivering data pipelines, analytics, and applications that study teams rely on daily.

The role combines statistical programming, data integration, and AI to improve timeliness and quality of insights. Strong collaboration with Global Patient Safety and clinical development teams is essential.

Qualifications

• MS (with 8+ years) or PhD (with 4+ years) in statistics/biostatistics/bioinformatics/ML or related field.
• Experience in pharma/biotech/health tech or related industries.
• Strong hands-on programming in R and Python, plus SQL and Git, with production-grade code for end-to-end pipelines.
• Experience applying generative or agentic AI with measurable results.
• Experience with clinical trial data (CDISC SDTM/ADaM) and real-world data (EHR, claims).
• Track record of building analytical tools adopted by users.
• Strong communication to explain analytic concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Frame surveillance problems with stakeholders before building, design for adoption, and iterate with users.
• Design and build data pipelines and analysis-ready data on SDTM/ADaM and integrated databases.
• Lead blinded, standardized analytics across studies to detect signals early.
• Deliver reporting and automate it where possible (tables, listings, figures).
• Develop dashboards and self-service tools; drive adoption and measure usage.
• Apply generative/agentic AI across the analysis workflow and measure gains.
• Integrate clinical trial and real-world data where needed, assess data quality.
• Lead projects and coach team members; collaborate across cross-functional teams.
