Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a Manager of Transmission Planning to lead a team of engineers and supervisors in ensuring the safe, reliable operation of transmission and sub-transmission systems.

The role involves coordinating studies, interconnections, and capital portfolio development in collaboration with operating companies, regional groups, and industry bodies. The incumbent will guide planning activities, maintain industry relationships, and ensure compliance with FERC and company standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• PE license preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Minimum of 7 years of related work experience required.
• Experience in Transmission Planning, Transmission Operations, Regulatory/Compliance, Project Management preferred.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSLF, PSS/E, TARA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Leads a diverse staff ensuring safety and performance guidelines are followed.
• Manages studies and planning activities for reliable operation of FE transmission systems.
• Oversees schedules, budgets, and deliverables for short- and long-term goals.
• Builds relationships with internal and external customers and industry groups (NERC, RFC, PJM).
• Supports the engineering/operational plans aligned with company goals.
