Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Manager, System Payroll to lead a centralized payroll operations team serving 60,000+ teammates across multiple states. The role oversees bi-weekly payroll processing, tax reporting, compliance with wage/hour laws, and continuous improvement of payroll processes.

A senior-ready leader is expected to coach staff and drive accurate, timely results. The position is full-time at our Grand Rapids site, with standard daytime hours and a focus on ensuring rigorous payroll

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or experience equivalent in business administration, human resources or accounting.
• 7 years of relevant payroll experience.
• 3 years of relevant supervisory experience.
• 3 years of relevant experience in a fully automated time & attendance / payroll environment within a large, multi-site organization.
• 1 year of Workday, ServiceNow and UKG experience preferred.
• Payroll Professional, CPP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a payroll team, including budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, and coaching.
• Ensure compliance with wage/hour, garnishments, deductions, benefits, and tax laws.
• Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing and customer service; manage escalations.
• File tax returns and meet reporting requirements for state wage details and new hires.
• continuously improve payroll processes and documentation; act as a change champion.
• Collaborate with Finance, HRIS, IS and other stakeholders to plan year-end activities and audits.
