DeWinter Group in South San Francisco seeks a Senior Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to lead quarterly and annual filings, develop technical accounting memos, and strengthen SOX controls in a fast-growing biotech environment.

You'll collaborate with external auditors and cross-functional teams while exploring automation and AI-enabled improvements to reporting and processes, with a base salary of $172k–$210k plus bonus and equity.

Senior Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting

About the Opportunity

DeWinter Group is partnering with a growing, publicly traded biotechnology company in South San Francisco to hire a Senior Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a lean, growing accounting team and take on a broad role spanning SEC reporting, technical accounting, SOX compliance, and process improvement.

Unlike positions focused exclusively on SEC reporting or technical accounting, this role offers meaningful exposure to both, along with the opportunity to help strengthen and scale the accounting infrastructure of a public biotech company.

What You'll Do

• Lead the preparation and coordination of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, earnings releases, and related disclosures.
• Research complex technical accounting matters, prepare accounting memoranda, and provide guidance on U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
• Support accounting for licensing arrangements, collaboration agreements, business development transactions, stock-based compensation, equity, leases, and revenue recognition.
• Play a key role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and other functions.
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting and accounting processes through technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Support accounting analyses related to strategic transactions and other business initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience required.
• Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred, ideally combined with industry experience.
• Strong SEC reporting and technical accounting background, including hands‑on experience with Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
• Experience independently researching complex accounting matters and preparing technical accounting memoranda.
• Public‑company experience strongly preferred, particularly within biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.
• Understanding of SOX compliance, internal controls, and external audit requirements.
• Experience with Workiva, DFIN ActiveDisclosure, and/or NetSuite is a plus.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Interest in leveraging automation, AI, and technology to improve accounting and reporting processes.
• Schedule: Onsite Monday–Thursday (4 days/week)
• Compensation: $172,000–$210,000 base salary + 15% target bonus + equity
• Reporting To: Director, SEC & Technical Accounting
