Job summary

The Biotech / Life Sciences industry seeks a Senior Accountant to join the SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting team in San Diego. This role supports external financial reporting, the close process, and SOX compliance, with exposure to XBRL and policy development.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting, with Big 4 experience strongly preferred. CPA is preferred or actively pursuing CPA, with strong US GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting.
• Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
• CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with biotech or life sciences clients.
• SEC reporting and filing software experience (e.g., Broadridge).
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
• Experience with BlackLine, Equity Edge Online, Clearwater, or OneStream.

Responsibilities

• Support quarterly and annual SEC reporting, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, earnings releases, tie-outs, and XBRL review
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations across areas such as investments, leases, debt, equity, and stock-based compensation
• Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements, including statements of equity and cash flows
• Support SOX compliance and internal control activities for assigned processes
• Research and interpret current and emerging U.S. GAAP and technical accounting guidance
• Prepare technical accounting memos related to transactions and adoption of new accounting standards
• Assist with maintaining and developing accounting policies
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures
• Support audits and other accounting-related projects as needed

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting team. This position will play a key role in external financial reporting, the financial statement close, technical accounting research, audit support, and SOX compliance.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting, with Big 4 experience strongly preferred. Candidates should have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting research, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
