Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Leader to guide Publications Teams in executing strategic publication plans for assigned assets, ensuring alignment with platform objectives and timelines. You will oversee manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and talks, coordinating with global stakeholders and managing resources.

Responsibilities include directing internal and external writers, controlling outsourcing budgets, mentoring staff, and maintaining publication records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
• 4–5 years of medical/scientific publications experience in pharma or related fields.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Ability to understand and interpret medical data.
• Knowledge of publication regulations and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to senior audiences.
• Collaborative cross-functional leadership and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets and drive publication plans.
• Lead tactical execution of publications (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, talks) on schedule and budget.
• Review publications for quality and alignment with platforms and communications.
• Partner with Directors to translate strategy into publication plans and tactics.
• Manage outsourcing budget and internal resource needs for assets.
• Oversee internal/external writers; ensure high-quality outputs and policy adherence.
• Direct external vendors to deliver publication projects on time with quality.
• Provide performance assessment, training, and staff retention for assigned team.
• Address publication issues and keep records and resourcing tools up to date.
