Job summary

City of Charlotte, through the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), seeks a Senior Manager of Communications to lead agency-wide public information, media relations, and digital communications. The role reports to Marketing and Communications leadership and drives integrated strategies to support service delivery, transparency, and public trust.

The Senior Manager oversees internal and external communications, coordinates with Operations, HR, and executive leadership, and guides crisis

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, public administration, or a related field.
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in public communications, media relations, or public information.
• Experience in public-sector, transit, transportation, or regulated environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop communications strategy and messaging governance for CATS.
• Oversee public information, media relations, and multi-channel communications.
• Lead crisis and incident communication during disruptions or emergencies.
• Manage internal communications and cross-functional collaboration across departments.
