The New York Botanical Garden is seeking a School Program Educator to lead naturalist workshops for K–8 students in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and adjacent facilities such as the GreenSchool and Edible Academy. You will organize supplies and oversee daily operations around the Garden grounds and Conservatory.

Responsibilities include facilitating programs, collaborating with informal science educators, managing materials, and supporting program assessment through teacher feedback.

Competenze

• Must have a degree in education, science, horticulture, or related field emphasizing student-driven experiences.
• Knowledge of plant science and ecosystems; experience in informal or outdoor teaching preferred.
• Experience facilitating programs using informal outdoor science education techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and responsive decision-making skills.
• Flexible and welcoming, able to adapt to changing schedules, weather, and spaces.

Mansioni

• Facilitate naturalist Garden curriculum for preschool through eighth grade school groups (all ability levels) that uses inquiry- and phenomena-based teaching practices.
• Participate in a professional learning community to build hands-on teaching practices that help students explore real-world phenomena, think like scientists, and connect to lived experiences.
• Efficiently manage setup of teaching supplies each morning, and handle clean-up, inventory and preparation each afternoon.
• Assist in ongoing assessment, experimentation and improvement of programs and curricula that enhance student experience.
• Solicit teacher evaluation of education programs.
