Location

This role is remote within the eastern or central US, with travel primarily in IL, OH, MI, IN, PA, TN, MD, NJ, & WV. Candidates should reside near a major airport or one of our offices, supporting a hybrid work model. Expect at least 60% travel, with expenses covered.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Senior Manager of Sales will lead a team of Business Development Managers, focusing on acquiring new Energy Efficiency projects, aligning with growth objectives. Responsibilities include managing sales activities, developing strategies, mentoring, and ensuring sales targets are met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage and guide BDMs in sales performance, pipeline development, and relationship management.
  2. Lead the team in prospecting, client engagement, and sales activities within assigned territories.
  3. Develop and implement sales strategies, conduct pipeline reviews, and support customer meetings.
  4. Coach and mentor team members, ensuring industry knowledge and sales skills are current.
  5. Handle administrative functions such as performance reviews, hiring, and budget management.
  6. Create sales forecasts, monitor KPIs, and prepare performance reports.
  7. Collaborate with internal teams to align technical proposals with customer needs and oversee project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of consultative, solutions-based sales experience in industries like energy savings, infrastructure upgrades, or related fields.
  • Alternatively, extensive sales experience with established contacts in government or institutional markets.
  • Previous sales management experience in a solutions-based environment.
  • Proven success in developing and managing sales territories, negotiating complex deals, and maintaining client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; proficient in CRM and MS Office.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 4 years of sales management experience.
  • Deep understanding of building and mechanical systems and energy technologies.
  • Experience with long sales cycles and formal sales training programs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar CRM systems.
