Nextpower in Fremont, CA is seeking a Manager of Project Engineering - Integrated Solutions to lead the engineering development and execution of fully integrated distributed-generation solar projects.

The role requires advanced engineering judgment to resolve complex design and delivery issues across disciplines, establish scalable standards, and guide cross-functional teams for reliable, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field; plus 8–12 years of experience (or Master’s 6–8 years; or PhD 3–5 years).
• Eight+ years of progressive engineering experience, including solar or energy infrastructure.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering activities for utility-scale solar projects.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
• Advanced understanding of solar project development, trackers, interfaces, and construction deliverables.
• Ability to establish engineering standards, procedures, templates, and quality review criteria.
• Experience applying value engineering, constructability reviews, and schedule/cost improvements.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and recommend technical solutions across teams.
• Ability to influence decisions across engineering, product, manufacturing, construction, and operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with data/workflow tools preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, project-management, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Ability to adapt communication style for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-priority environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of project engineers supporting fully integrated distributed-generation solar projects 5–30 MW.
• Provide advanced technical direction for layouts, CAD blocks, electrical/eBOS designs, and construction plans.
• Evaluate site information, inputs, codes, and project constraints to determine engineering approaches.
• Lead product selection and configuration based on site conditions and project economics.
• Perform topographic, hydrologic, geotechnical, civil, and electrical reviews to support design.
• Resolve complex design interfaces among trackers, foundations, inverters, eBOS, and modules.
• Develop and improve engineering standards, templates, and review criteria for OneSource program.
• Establish methods for nonstandard assignments and guide engineering principles across regions.
• Collaborate with structural, geotechnical, civil, electrical, product, manufacturing, construction, and operations teams.
• Lead value-engineering activities to improve cost, constructability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop automation tools, workflows, and data-quality practices to increase efficiency.
• Maintain quality-control processes and escalation paths for engineering deliverables.
• Influence product releases, changes, and process improvements with technical recommendations.
• Coordinate with regional teams to align standards and initiatives.
• Prioritize resources based on risk, impact, schedule, and capacity.
• Define KPIs for workload, quality, productivity, and development.
• Coach and develop staff; support hiring, onboarding, and conflict resolution.
• Advise leaders on complex engineering matters and communicate with diverse audiences.
• Promote technical ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
